Just a few snapshots of my weekend house sitting for my parents in Portland near the Goosehollow neighborhood. Really looking forward to moving there permanently in 2 years.

This past Memorial Day weekend, I took the family to Manzanita. We enjoyed three days of long beach explorations, tidepool hunting, dining at our favorite restaurants and relaxing with each other. U can’t wait for our next trip to manzanita to create even more memories.

Something that has boggled my mind is the cost of any follow focus for DSLR cameras. They can range from $175 to $500+ YIKES. I knew there had to be a better way. So I did some searching and found that a few people on Thingavers have designed and posted for free the parts to 3D print your own follow focus and then a list of the parts you can pick up at most hardware stores. Since working for Autodesk we have formed a partnership with Makerbot, and we now have a MakerBot Replicator that sits just outside my cubicle, so printing them would be simple.

So after printing the parts I have now started to assemble my follow focus and have one part remaining which are the 15mm connecting rods.

I’m looking forward to getting them and creating some great videos this summer!
