This past year my Wife and I have been updating many of the fixtures in our home, and we had a particularly hard time trying to find the right light for our office. We searched and searched with no luck finding just the right light. Then it dawned on me, since is is going to be our creative space, I could design a light with Fusion 360 and then 3D print it. So after 3 days of designing, 1-1/2 days printing, and a few hours finishing and installing our new fixture is installed to light our creative projects.
This summer I spent a little time with Mindy and her MkIV Jetta “Crayola”. This car has a ton of hidden treasures all over the place. I’m sure as many of you have noticed, I have not been appearing on FlatWebTV in the past few months. I have received so many e-mail, IM’s, texts, messages, etc asking where I am and what I’m up to, so I though it was time that you all know what is happening and what my plans are for the future.
Taking a quick look back at my BMX life, I was never really able to put my full self behind my riding and contributions to the sport. About three years ago I approached Anthony after a session about his thoughts around doing an internet TV show focused on flatland. We talked off and on for months about the subject, we talked to various people in the sport about it and on December 31st 2010 we released the first episode of FlatWebTV. This was great. We were able to bring something to the sport that hadn’t been done before and people liked it. Sure we had our critics, but I finally felt like I had made an impact on the sport that had given me so much.
Early last year, as many people do, I started to think about what I wanted from my life. I had started a web show that was doing well, I had another career that was just on the verge of taking off, a family that was needing more of my time, and I had just had my 3rd major injury in less and a year.
So as I’m sure you can tell by now, you know what I’m going to say. I’m going to be removing myself from FlatWebTV and other organized BMX activities to focus on my family, providing for them, and build a legacy for them.
This doesn’t mean that I’m not going to ride, it doesn’t mean that Anthony and I had a falling out, it doesn’t mean that I hate BMX. In fact I love BMX, I love all the people that I have met, and it played a major role in who I am.
